Full Notes Interviews the Stars and truly puts
their careers and performances in context for
the pleasure of the surfing public

A welcome addition to the Cues N Views team is our ace statistician (statistician of the year 1998 and 2001) Full Notes.

Full made his name up North by remembering minuscule facts about all aspects of the Snooker world and has done so for 27 years and 8 months. Full’s interviewing style is detailed and enthusiastic, he seldom pauses for breath and occasionally forgets to leave room for his guests to answer, but we value him as an asset that will make us £17,528 per year over the next 5 years.

Below are transcriptions from audio tape of two recent interviews for Cues n Views; Dennis Taylor and Stephen Hendry.

Dennis Taylor interview:

Full Notes:

Hello and welcome to Dennis, we are here today to talk about your great battles with Steve in the 1980’s I believe that your most epic encounter was in the Championship of 1985 when 18.5 million people a record audience for BBC 2 saw you pot the black ball and raise your cue in triumph thereby adding your name to the legendary trophy first purchased by Joe Davis in 1927 a trophy that has been presented annually ever since a trophy that has been polished a record 82,355 times by 18 different champion’s their wives mother, girlfriends and allegedly by David Vine as well this must have been one of the proudest moments of your career and in a sporting sense one of the greatest achievements of your life both statistically as you came back from 8 frames to nil down and practically as it elevated you from what some people called an also ran into a winner what can you remember about it

Sorry we’ll have to leave it there as we’ve run out of time, next I’ll be talking to several deceased players and a sleeping Cliff Thorburn about their lives in the relentless spotlight of publicity which accounts for 76% of the additional pressure on first time winners to retain their titles and 68% of the reason why they seldom do good-bye.

Stephen Hendry interview:

Full interviews Stephen Hendry about his phenomenal ability to make century breaks.

Full Notes:

“Stephen I want to first ask you about your eighteenth century break in the 1988 Dubai Challenge I seem to remember on the eighth black you were cueing from beneath the cushion and had just recovered from an upset stomach can you shed any light on how you managed to play through these particular difficulties as these are the questions that our readers often ask?”

Stephen Hendry:

“I am sorry but I have made so many breaks that this particular one has become a wee bit lost in ma memory, could you give me more to go on?”

Full Notes:

“Sorry Stephen maybe I should ask about another incident that was probably a bit more memorable do you recall you’re twenty fifth century break this was a real cracker you went well until the very last blue on 98 the blue was 3.2 centimeters off it’s spot and was a shade of blue that has proven statistically difficult to pot under such conditions as research carried out by Willie Thorne has shown the blue was also found to be point eight of a gram heavier when weighed after the match what went through your mind as you assessed these crucial aspects to every players game?”

Stephen Hendry:

“I am very sorry but I did not ken any o these factor’s I just potted it!”

Full Notes:

“Let’s move on to your seventy fifth century break in competition, you must remember this one it was made on a Riley table with a set of balls that had been used in the 1990 World final in which you defeated Jimmy White you came to the table needing the frame for victory against Steve Davis and on the tenth Black ball you took an almost unprecedented decision for a tenth Black and had the ball cleaned many times before you had done so on the eleventh or even seventh but never on the tenth why this break with well documented tradition at this very crucial time?”

Stephen Hendry:

“I applaud you fer ye research but again I am sorry to say that I did not consider anything special, I must have just seen a speck of dust or perhaps needed to gather ma sen?”

Full Notes:

“Thank you Stephen for that revealing insight into the thinking process of one of the world’s leading sportsmen and also thanks for the exclusive about the tenth Black I will make my name as a journalist with that snippet!”

Cues n Views Staff Christmas Do:

Ray Serrcher and Full Notes sit in the pub remembering past times

Full Notes:

“This is our fifteenth Christmas drink in seventeen years I think you’ll find on the first seven occasions I drank an average of six glasses of Whisky to your five!”

Ray Serrcher:

” I looked in my records and discovered that it’s your round Full . . . “

Full Notes:

“So it is, maybe I should use my statistically tried and tested method of walking to the bar and ordering what we want?”

Moments pass and then Full returns with the drinks and as he sits down.

Ray Serrcher:

“I did some research while you were away and discovered to my amazement that the table we are sitting at has only three legs when it is more usual to find four!”

Full Notes:

“Ah but not in this pub as from September of 1991 the whole chain took the almost unprecedented decision to replace the four legged table with the now acceptable and customary three legged variety, I’m shocked and dismayed that you didn’t know that!”
