Take care what you buy

Take care what you buy especially when you have not had the item in your hand. I have seen several cues for sale recently that look a little unusual and this is not a good thing. I recently saw a picture of a cue that was for sale that purported to be a Joe Davis 147 cue however the cue had a maple facing splice and a green veneer. As many of you are no doubt aware the 147 cue has a splice but no veneer. Perhaps this cue was a repair but from a collecting point of view the cue was in my opinion quite worthless. As cue collecting gathers momentum and items gather additional rarity value their will no doubt come a time when the temptation to “fake up” a rare cue becomes too much for some people. If in doubt please feel free to contact me regarding an expert opinion about the validity of any items that you are thinking of buying, we will be happy to help when we can.
